    The hull, at 90 metres, is longer than that of a conventional PSV. The bow section has been lowered to create a V-shape. In the aft, a V-shape has also been incorporated into the frames. Both features should make stern to wave operations more comfortable than on a common PSV design.

    The hull requires less installed power than a conventional PSV thanks to its symmetrical wind profile and efficient four split switchboard system. The four split main switchboard ensures an efficient generator distribution offering more power in the event of a single switchboard failure.

    The primary solution is a motion compensated access gangway system mounted on the port side. Its managing software is aligned with the vessel’s DP system to accommodate gangway motion limits. For a high level of redundancy alternative transfer methods are included, including helicopter access and a daughter draft.

The W2W has been designed for conventional oil and gas maintenance duties as well as wind farm maintenance and support

The W2W has been designed for conventional oil and gas maintenance duties as well as wind farm maintenance and support. As such, the final design of each new vessel will be adapted to reflect its operating profile. The following list offers a number of options which can readily be included at the point of final specification. This list is given by way of guidance and is by no means exhaustive:
Offshore crane: up to 6t, 3D motion comp. knuckleboom crane;
Gangway access system: 3D motion-compensated gangway from several OEM;
Height adjustable gangway pedestal: for height adjustment of gangway centre platform. Includes lift upgrade;
Hybrid drive: Battery package replacing one genset. Total inst. gen. power 5500 ekW;
CTV refueling: at CTV landing to SB;
Targetless DP pos.ref.system: Guidance Marine RangeGuard;
Daughter craft, operability 1.2m Hs: Tuco 11m windfarm. service boat;
Daughter craft, increased operability 1.5m Hs: Tuco 15m windfarm service boat with passive gangway;
Upgrade of nr of POB to 90: Double occupancy of 30 SP-cabins; includes lifeboats;
Upgrade winch area to Helicopter deck: D-factor 21 m, max. take-off weight 12t, day- and night landings;
Helicopter re- / de-fuelling: Jet A and Jet A1, capacity 4m3;
Additional Class notations: COMF(C-2, V-2), Clean (Design), BIS, HELDK.

Need finance options?

Damen Ship Delivery Services makes sure our customers receive their vessels safely, clean and ready for operation. We offer total care of all logistical services through our worldwide service support network. Our Ship Delivery Services include own keel transport, heavy lift, towage and semi-submersible transport.

As an international shipbuilder Damen has extensive knowledge of each vessel and of transport contracts and conditions, and we have many years’ experience of shipping to distant and remote destinations. In short, our customers benefit from our reliable and competitive shipping solutions.

Damen Parts Services offers competitive prices, efficient and cost-effective delivery and short response times. With our years of experience we have established strong buying power and an extensive supplier network. By expanding our network of global service hubs, we are able to shorten our response times. Our service goes beyond fast part delivery; we also offer different replenishment solutions resulting in having parts in stock just before you need them.

To minimise lifecycle costs and to improve a vessel’s performance, it’s crucial to have the right spare parts. Our Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) allows stock control replenishment to be completely automated.

Online parts store

To support our customers on a 24/7 basis, Damen has created an online parts store on our Services Portal www.damenservices.com. Here you can order directly from our online catalogue of spare parts. Our scope of supply is neither limited to Damen-vessels only, nor to the catalogue. If your required parts are not available online, we invite you to make online requests. Your services manager will gladly do what it takes to source the relevant component. With Damen as your partner you can experience the benefits of a one-stop-shop.

Proving the designs performance

The W2W has been designed for conventional oil and gas maintenance duties as well as wind farm maintenance and support

Innovations in the design and design process of this vessel are:
• Seakeeping analysis of systematic variations of hull design and dimensions, verified by tank tests, resulting in high natural roll period and low roll motions in North Sea conditions. More access, more comfort.;
• Balanced, and low lateral wind profile, as well as shallow draught contribute to reduced power demand while station-keeping in beam-on conditions;
• Focus on high-speed transits between turbines while remaining in DP, as has been demonstrated by model tests in challenging environmental conditions;
• The actual controllers of DP and motion-compensated gangway systems, and the vessel’s seakeeping characteristics are being tested in simulated environmental conditions in unison in a hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test. This will ensure smooth setting-to-work and operational performance from day 1;
• Development of a vessel simulator based on the HIL-test setup, will produce a “digital twin” to the vessel and access system. Prior to charter award, this enables the owner to offer to clients an assessment of operational access performance in client-specified environmental and site conditions much more accurately than is possible with just vessel RAO’s;

These innovations are now being realised in a vessel concept which, because of it’s bench-marking high operability, lead to more, and safer access to the wind energy sector, thereby contributing to lower cost of energy.

All Damen vessels benefit from knowledge gathered during ongoing research programmes within the Group. Damen works alongside world-renowned research institutes such as Delft University of Technology, Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (MARIN) and the Netherlands Organization of Applied Scientific Research (TNO), as well as other reputable universities and leading maritime companies.
